No this is not a sponsored post from Philosophy – I just love them that much. Read on for my daily skincare routine!
Happy Friday peeps! Welcome to another edition of Friday Afternoon – where I take a break from outfit posts to share about other areas of my life. This week – skincare!
I first fell in love with Philosophy when I decided to impulse buy the Purity face wash at Sephora after getting sick of always switching cleansers for one reason or another. I was never one to respect the cleansing step of the skincare routine; I thought any old soap will do, as long as it does the job and cleanses well. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here to tell you this facial cleanser literally changed my life and eliminated pretty much all other cleansing steps in my routine.
I no longer had to use a make up remover. My daily look consists of brows, concealer, sometimes foundation blended on my cheeks to cover redness, and my Stila black eyeliner. This got rid of everything. On heavier days I will use make up remover, but those are mostly special occasions; and even then I can just soap up twice with this and it’ll remove every trace of make up. My skin feels clean and tight, never dry. I no longer had to use a special pore cleanser, Purity does that on its own. It’s seriously magical and I’ll never use anything else in my life.
I get rough patches of clogged skin and pores once in awhile and it drives me crazy, I have especially large pores around and on my nose. A salesperson once suggested (what else) the philosophy 2-Step Microdelivery Peel and my god, I never looked back. This thing keeps my skin smooth for up to a week. Yes you read that right, a whole week.
The 1st step is to message this delicious smelling crystals onto your skin for up to a minute, then you layer on the liquidy step 2 to “activate” the crystals.
It warms and forms a little bit of foam, which you can continue to message into the skin for extra exfoliation. Leave on for 3 minutes and wash off. Hello smooth and bright skin! Baby smooth, I’m telling you. Again, this stuff is pure magic.
At this point I’m pretty curious about their entire line. I’m usually not huge on brand loyalty; I like to cherry pick and use whatever works best. A couple years ago when I lived in Ohio, my poor face was getting wrecked from the weather and office air con all season long. I tried all sorts of moisturizers. It got to the point where an hour after I arrive at the office, dry flakes would appear on my cheeks. Forget about foundation! I finally decided to shell out money for the Hope in a Jar Dry, and again, life changing.
It kept the dry flakes away all day, and the best part, it absorbed well enough to not feel greasy. Make up went over it flawlessly. I’m in love. I ended up getting the SPF version as well for daytime, and used the regular one at night.
Naturally a few months ago when I was hunting for some eye moisturizer, I went with Time in a Bottle for Eyes. Okay, I’ll admit that maybe I have a little bit of brand loyalty for philosophy by now.
I’m naturally quite skeptical about anti-wrinkle skincare, and there was no magic here as I expected. It absorbs freakishly quick though which I love in the mornings, and I dab on some Hope in a Jar over it. It keeps my under eye area looking supple.
Recently all the stars aligned and I was running out of all the above at the same time, so I scored the cleanse, refine, & renew kit which has a full size Purity and Hope in a jar along with a smaller size of the Microdelivery Peel. For $75 it’s an amazing deal.
And the best part? philosophy is having a Friends and Family 30% off sale on the website and Nordstrom price matches!!
