About Me

Taipei, Taiwan 2015

Hey guys!  Thanks for coming in.

Let’s throw it back for a second – does anyone out there remember Xanga, LiveJournal or Geocities?  Or did just admit that I am, in fact, a dinosaur?

I loved writing on Xanga when I was a kid; it was an early form of blogging within a community much like the way Facebook is now except instead of status updates, there were blog posts.  Back then it was all about the writing – there were no fancy css/html, no iPhone cameras, no Instagram – just you and your words.  I wrote about anything and everything just for fun.  I eventually grew out of it; little did I know I would walking a full circular path right back to square one as an adult.

As I try to coax out that little girl in me who used to love sharing and writing, I created alice / TYPENU to add my personal little voice to the www.  A corporate fashion designer by day, I developed an unhealthy addiction to jewelry and eventually launched my e-shop The TYPENU Collective, curating quietly minimal and adorably feminine jewelry pieces as an additional creative outlet.  As I walk this cut throat path to become a blogger supernova, here are some quick facts about me:

1. I don’t have a huge wardrobe.
2. I have to pay rent.
3. A girl has got to eat.

Ha!  Just joking about the path to supernova 😉  Ladies, I’m just here to share my ALLSAINTS-loving personal style, my work / views on the fashion industry, and hopefully provide you a good time!  Please try to be forgiving if you see the same shoes too often.  I’m trying, I promise.  In all seriousness, thank you for taking the time to drop by and getting to know me.  Feel free to keep in touch through any of my social channels sprinkled throughout the blog.

  • I’m twice your age and yet, have never EVER heard of Xanga. That rock must have been ginormous 😀 LiveJournal and Geocities, however, ahh, finally some bells are pealing!!! I was far more of a physical diary sort of person complete with fountain pen, mind you.

  • OMG I’ve completely forgotten about AsianAvenue!! I think I got as far as creating an account..I don’t remember if I was ever a serious user. Xanga though…it was so fun!!

  • I was on xanga!!!!!! I pretty much poured my heart out there to the world to see on a daily basis. Now I think about it.. it was highly inappropriate. I was even on AsianAvenue – and I was learning all the fancy HTML and making my picture move. Oh* those are the days!

  • Xanga… YES! I loved, loved it. Reading about it again definitely makes me want to go back and find old posts. I can’t even imagine what I was writing about then. And All Saints… words straight to my heart. I cannot get enough!

  • Ahh I used to keep a physical diary too when I was a kid! Actually I think I enjoyed buying them more than writing in them… ;P Thank you so much for reading and your compliments, they mean so much to me!

Hahahahaha Think I’m the dinosaur Alice! I have no idea what any of those things you mention in your opener are at all! I used to write a diary from the age of 12 to the time I had my 2nd kid (40) when I no longer had time for such guilty pleasures 😉
And when I say “diary” I mean actual paper & actual pen teehee.
Geez I bloody love your blog lady, it’s just beautiful xxx
